Aldenham

This Aldenham garden transformation brought new life to a traditional property through thoughtful hard and soft landscaping. The homeowners were looking to create a more functional and attractive outdoor space that would provide a comfortable area for relaxation whilst improving the overall flow and usability of their garden.
Working with the existing garden layout, we installed a new patio area that serves as the perfect spot for outdoor dining and entertaining. The patio connects seamlessly to the house, creating an easy transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces. A well-defined garden path was constructed to provide clear access through the garden, improving both practicality and visual appeal.
To complement the hard landscaping, we incorporated a handcrafted wooden bench that offers a peaceful seating area where the family can sit and enjoy their newly landscaped garden. The bench placement was carefully considered to take advantage of the best views and most pleasant aspects of the garden.
The soft landscaping elements work in harmony with the structural features, with carefully selected planting that adds colour, texture and seasonal interest throughout the year. Border planting softens the edges of the patio and pathway, creating a natural, established feel that blends the hard landscaping elements into the garden setting.
The completed project delivers a practical, attractive garden space that the homeowners can enjoy year-round, whether for entertaining guests or simply relaxing in their improved outdoor environment.
Project Details
- Create clear circulation routes – A well-designed path improves both functionality and garden structure, guiding movement through the space whilst defining different areas.
- Balance hard and soft elements – Combining quality paving with thoughtful planting creates interest and prevents the garden feeling too stark or overly formal.
- Consider seating placement carefully – Position benches and seating to take advantage of sun, shade and views, creating inviting spots to pause and enjoy the garden.
- Use natural materials – Wooden features like timber benches add warmth and character, complementing both traditional and contemporary properties whilst ageing beautifully over time.
- Think about year-round appeal – Select a mix of evergreen and seasonal plants to ensure the garden looks attractive throughout the seasons, not just in summer months.
Limestone Landscapes (Terry Chambers), carried out significant landscaping works (both hard and soft) to our back garden, which included relaying the lawn and significant planting of trees shrubs and plants. The works were carried out in a very good and workmanlike manner and on time, with Terry advising on progress and offering up suggestions throughout. The team of workmen all worked very hard and were extremely polite. I am very happy with the work that Limestone Landscapes have done for us which has given a beautiful back garden.
